Euroanaesthesia 2010

Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Council of the European Society of Anaesthesiology, I would like to invite you to join us in Helsinki, Finland for Euroanaesthesia 2010 on 12-15 June.
It will be the sixth annual meeting of ESA following the growing successes of Euroanaesthesia in Vienna, Madrid, Munich, Copenhagen and Milan.
Professor Benedikt Pannen, the new Scientific Programme Committee Chairperson, is continuing the work of his predecessor, Professor Jennifer Hunter, creating a very attractive scientific programme. After having observed the dynamic atmosphere within and between the nineteen subcommittees of the Scientific Programme Committee, I am convinced and confident that an engaging programme will be waiting for you in Helsinki.
The increasing number of joint programme sessions between subcommittees reflects the urgency to communicate strongly not only within and between fields of expertise of our specialty but also with experts from other medical specialties.
The quality of the Refresher Courses is developing each year and underlines the importance of Euroanaesthesia for individual anaesthesiologists as a contributor to their personal Continuous Professional Development.
Hands-on workshops will bring you the latest in anaesthesia techniques and technology.
Pro – Con discussions will assist you in taking the right decisions and applying up to date knowledge to your own practice.
A strong emphasis on new developments in Anaesthesiology will focus not only on new equipment and drugs but also on teaching and research.
It is generally agreed that Anaesthesiology is important in facilitating patient safety programmes in medicine, and is probably a leading discipline in this critical issue in many ways. The growing cooperation between ESA and the European Board of Anaesthesiology (EBA) will be visible in a patient safety EBA symposium during the congress. During Euroanaesthesia 2010 the European Board Fellowship diplomas will also be awarded for the first time.
I look forward to meeting many friends and colleagues to enjoy Euroanaesthesia 12-15 June 2010.
Professor Hans Knape,
President of the European Society of Anaesthesiology
